Founded in 2006, Greenville Women Giving (GWG) is a philanthropic organization made up of more than 500 members. Serving Greenville County in South Carolina, GWG believes that informed women working together can make a meaningful impact on their community. Their mission is to collectively identify and fund nonprofit organizations supporting the arts, education, environment, health, and human services.

GWG takes a holistic approach to community philanthropy, focusing on projects with the potential to create lasting, positive change. Members join by donating $1,200 annually for three years, with $1,000 going directly into the year’s grant fund and $200 supporting program and operational expenses. Throughout the year, GWG also provides educational opportunities that help members better understand local needs, community challenges, and the nonprofit organizations working to address them.
When evaluating grant opportunities, GWG looks across many areas to maximize impact within the community. Their efforts support the arts, lifelong learning, health initiatives, environmental improvements, and programs that address inequality. Over the years, the organization has awarded more than 120 grants, surpassing $6 million in total grant funding in 2019.
